春立つ [写真]
これは水戸の偕楽園で撮ったもので、花の名前は都錦で桜に似ています。この広大な公園には100種類、3,000本以上の梅があると言われ、2018年は２月17日から３月31日まで梅祭りが開催されています。

This is a photo taken at Kairakuen Park in Mito. The name of these flowers is called Miyako-Nishiki, which look like cherry blossoms. It is said that the huge park features over 3,000 plum trees of 100 varieties, and the plum blossom festival is held between February 17 and March 31, 2018.
春の訪れ [写真]
茨城県フラワーパークは広さが約30ヘクタールあり、バラでよく知られていて、800種類、約30,000本のバラがあると言われています。カワヅザクラも見られ、既に咲き始めました。これはこの公園で撮影したものです。

Ibaraki Prefectural Flower Park covers an area of approximately 30 hectares, and is well-known for its roses. It is said that there are about 30,000 roses of 800 different varieties here. You can see cherry blossoms called Kawazu-zakura as well, which are already beginning to come out. This is a photo taken in the park.
早咲きの桜 [写真]
静岡県の熱海は「あたみ桜」と呼ばれている早咲きの桜でよく知られていて、通常ですと１月中旬から２月中旬頃に見られます。この写真は２月７日に撮影したものです。このあたりにはメジロが沢山見られ、あちらこちらで桜の蜜を吸っていました。

Atami in Shizuoka is well-known for its early cherry blossoms called Atami-zakura, which are normally seen between the middle of January and the middle of February. This is a photo taken on February 7. You can see a lot of birds called white-eye around here. They were busy with their activities trying to get the nectar out of the cherry blossoms here and there.
魅せられて [写真]
これは山梨県の精進湖で３日前に撮った富士山の写真です。この湖は標高900メートルほどの所にあり、富士五湖の１つとなっていて、この写真を撮った時間には気温がマイナス12度で、防寒対策をしていたとはいえ、あまりにも寒くて湖は完全に凍り付いていてカイロがあまり役に立ちませんでした。

This is a photo of Mt. Fuji taken by Lake Shojiko in Yamanashi three days ago. The lake, some 900 meters above sea level, is one of the five lakes of Mt. Fuji. The temperature was minus 12 degrees Celsius at the time when I took this photo. Actually, since it was intense cold and the lake is completely frozen, portable warm pads or pocket warmers did not work much though I was taking precautions against the cold.
富士山のシルエット [写真]
御殿場にある見晴らしの良いこのスポットからは、空気が澄んでいる特に冬は富士山の綺麗なシルエットが見られます。富士山はブルー・アワーのときに撮ると一層綺麗に見えます。ブルー・アワーは日の出前と日没後の１日に２回ありますが、この写真は日没直後に撮ったものです。

This spot with a panoramic view in Gotemba offers a great view of the silhouette of Mt. Fuji especially in winter when the air is clear. Mt. Fuji looks more beautiful when it is shot during blue hour, which happens twice a day, that is, just before sunrise and just after sunset. This photo was taken just after sunset.
皆既月食 [写真]
１月３１日に皆既月食が見られました。この写真は午後の９時５３分に撮ったもので、赤銅色に変わった月を観察するには雲もなく理想的でした。新聞によると、月がいつもよりも地球に近づき、1か月の間に2回満月が起こるときにその2回目の月を「ブルームーン」と呼ばれるそうです。NASAではこの現象を「スーパー・ブルー・ブラッド・ムーン」と呼んでいます。

A total lunar eclipse was seen on January 31. This is a photo taken at 9:53 p.m. The conditions were ideal without any clouds for observing the moon turned a red copper color. According to the newspaper, the moon was closer to the Earth in its orbit and it was the second full moon of the month called a blue moon. NASA calls this phenomenon "Super Blue Blood Moon".
