とりこ

　ニュー・ウエイブと呼ばれているこの淡い紫のバラを山梨県フラワーセンターで初めて見たときに夢中になるほどでした。この写真を撮った日は少し風が吹いていたのですが、感度を500にして撮ってみました。シャッター速度が遅すぎるとカメラがその動きを拾ってしまいます。

I became infatuated with this pale purple rose called New Wave when I first saw it in Yamanashi Prefectural Flower Center. Since it was a little windy on the day when I shot this photo, I took it at ISO 500. If the shutter speed is too slow, the camera picks up that movement.

青空に映える

　この時期には既にあちらこちらでバラが見られます。明るい太陽の下では明るい部分と濃い影になっているところがあったので、影になっている部分に光を反射させるためにバラの茎の下の方にレフ板を置いて、この写真を撮ってみました。

Roses are already seen here and there at this time of year. Since there were strong highlights and deep shadows in bright sun, I placed the reflector under the rose stem to bounce the light back into the shadows, and shot this photo.

光跡

　花火の写真を撮るのは難しいのですが、撮ってみる価値はあります。花火の撮影には三脚・レリーズ・予備のバッテリー、懐中電灯が必要になり、綺麗な光跡をとらえるにはシャッター速度が数秒になることもあります。

Photographing fireworks is a challenging, but it's worthwhile. You might need a tripod, a cable release, an extra battery, and a flashlight to photograph fireworks. To get the nice trails of the fireworks, the shutter speed can be for several seconds.
