雲海にそびえる [写真]
富士山は秋から冬にかけて一番よく見えて、この写真は山梨県の新道峠から撮ったものです。訪れたときには富士山が雲海の上にくっきりと浮かび上がっていましたが、防寒具に身を固めたとはいえ、そこは凍るような寒さでした。

Mt. Fuji is best visible from autumn to winter. As for this photo, it was shot from Shindo Pass in Yamanashi Prefecture. Mt. Fuji stood out sharply above a sea of clouds when I visited. It was freezing there though I protected myself against the cold.

逆光 [写真]
エレガント・レディーと呼ばれているバラはベルベットのような花びらに、ピンクを帯びた赤の覆輪にクリームのような白で、この写真は10月31日に「ひたち海浜公園」で撮ったものです。風を避ける一番の方法は風が吹く可能性が少ない早朝に撮影することですが、公園は通常午前９時頃の開園なので、風を避けるために段ボールやレフをよく使っています。

Elegant Lady Rose has velvety-petaled blooms and is creamy white edged pinkish red. About this photo, it was shot on October 31 at Hitachi Seaside Park. The easiest way to avoid wind is to do your photography early in the morning when there is less chance of wind, but public parks usually open around nine in the morning, so I often use a piece of cardboard or a reflector to avoid wind.

滝を引き立てる
茨城県大子にある袋田の滝は高さが120メートル、幅が73メートルあり、４段になっていて、11月上旬から中旬にはカラフルな紅葉とともにこの滝が見られます。

Fukuroda Falls in Daigo, Ibaraki Prefecture, is 120 meters high and 73 meters wide, and it is a four-stage waterfall. You can see the falls together with colorful fall foliage between early November and mid-November.

端麗 [写真]
バラのお気に入りの撮影時間帯は朝です。明るい日差しの中で撮影すると、ところどころが露出オーバーになる可能性があるからです。「マイ・ガーデン」と呼ばれているこのバラはクリームのような白で中心部で淡いピンクを帯びています。

My favorite time to take pictures of roses is in the morning, for in bright light, some areas may be overexposed. The rose called My Garden is creamy white which deepens in the center to show a hint of pale pink.

青空を背景に [写真]
三つ峠の１つの開運山の麓には１月３０日の午前４時半の頃に到着したのですが、登山道は20センチほどの雪と氷で覆われていて、頂上まではいつもより時間がかかりました。開運山の頂上からは富士山の見事な景色が見られました。

I got to the foot of Mt. Kaiun, one of the three mountains called Mitsutoge, around 4:30 in the morning on January 30. Since the trail was covered with approximately 20 centimeters of snow and ice, it took longer than usual to reach the top. The peak of Mt. Kaiun offered spectacular view of Mt. Fuji.

美貌 [写真]
周知のように富士山は恥ずかしがりで、しばしば低いところに立ちこめている雲の後ろに隠れてしまいますが、この時期は富士山は一番よく見えます。山は雪で覆われ、山梨県にある開運山の頂上からの富士山の眺めは息をのむほどでした。

Mt. Fuji is notoriously shy, often hiding behind low hanging cloud, but at this time of year Mt. Fuji is best visible from. The mountain is covered with a blanket of snow, and the view from the top of Mt. Kaiun in Yamanashi Prefecture took my breath away.
シルエット [写真]
静岡県御殿場にある富士松展望台からは特に冬は富士山の素晴らしい眺めが見られ、綺麗な均整の取れたシルエットに魅了されてしまいます。この写真は三脚を使い感度200にして絞りF8、シャッター速度は1.6秒で撮ったものです。ピントをしっかり合わせるには頑丈な三脚が欠かせません。

Fujimatsu Tembodai in Gotemba, Shizuoka Prefecture, offers wonderful views of Mt. Fuji, especially in winter. You will be mesmerized by the beautiful symmetric silhouette of Mt. Fuji. About this photo, it was taken with a tripod at aperture f/8 with a shutter speed of 1.6 seconds at ISO 200. A sturdy tripod is essential for sharp images.

はかなさ [写真]
シャボン玉はあちらこちらで見られますが、シャッター速度が遅すぎるとカメラはその動きを拾ってしまいます。速いシャッター速度を利用すると、シャボン玉が鮮明に撮れました。この写真は感度500にして絞りをF5.6、シャッター速度は1/1000秒で、木の陰を背景にして撮りました。

Soap bubbles are seen here and there, but if the shutter speed is too slow, the camera picks up that movement. By using a fast shutter speed, these soap bubbles were taken clearly. This is a photo taken at aperture f/5.6 with a shutter speed of 1/1000 of a second at ISO 500. I shot this photo with the shade of trees as a background.

雲海に浮かぶ [写真]
真冬には箱根の大観山からは雲海の中の島のようにそびえている見事な富士山が見られることがあります。大観山は標高が1,015メートルで、この写真を撮った早朝は大変な寒さで路面は凍結していたのですが、素晴らしい富士山が目の保養になりました。

In the middle of winter, Mt. Daikan in Hakone can offer a breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji rising like an island from a sea of clouds. Mt. Daikan is 1,015 meters above sea level. It was extremely cold and the roads were icy early in the morning when I took this photo, but I feasted my eyes on the gorgeous view of Mt. Fuji.

魅了されて [写真]
この写真は山梨県にある開運山の標高1,785メートルの山頂から２日前の午前６時少し過ぎに撮ったものです。このときの気温は氷点下７度ほどで風が吹いていて身を切るような寒さでしたが見事な富士山が見られ、三つ峠は訪れる価値がありました。この写真は感度1000にして絞りF8、シャッター速度は４秒で撮ったものです。

This is a photo taken on the top of Mt. Kaiun, which is 1,785 meters above sea level, in Yamanashi Prefecture a little past 6 in the morning two days ago, when the thermometer showed
about 7 degrees below zero and it was windy. It was piercing cold there, but the peak offered a splendid view of Mt. Fuji, so it was worth while visiting Mitsutoge. About this photo, it was taken at aperture f/8 with a shutter speed of 4 seconds at ISO 1000.
